Gender Pay Reporting

The Government has published a draft of The Equality Act (Gender Pay Gap Information) Regulations 2016 that are intended to come into force in October 2016. The first reports are to be published in April 2017.

The good news - The regulations will ONLY apply to private and voluntary sector employers in England, Wales and Scotland with 250 or more employees.

Employers will be required to publish information surrounding the whole workforce on their Company website. Employers must also publish how many men and women appear in each quartile of pay. Pay report information must be published on the employer’s website each year and then left there for three years. This information must also be submitted to the government.

Employers that do not comply will be publicly named and shamed by the government. These cases will be reviewed as to whether or not civil or criminal penalties for non-compliance be introduced.

Watch this space to see how the compliance of this new law will be applied in practice.
